Update: More than six months after its original PS4 release, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will return to the PlayStation Store in the very near future. It'll be fully reinstated on the 21st June.
We don't yet know whether that means a new update is incoming, but we'll keep you posted.
About time, eh?
Original Story: This could be the news that we've all been waiting for: Cyberpunk 2077 is, supposedly, in the process of being reinstated on the PlayStation Store, having been removed from Sony's digital marketplace just ten days after its release back in December 2020.
The open world RPG has been missing in action for over six months. It was originally delisted by Sony due to quality concerns, since it was shockingly susceptible to crashes. However, some believe that there was more to it, and that Sony, at least in part, removed it because developer CD Projekt Red had promised refunds without checking in with the PlayStation maker.
Anyway, Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be back on Sony's storefront. Right now, it can be found through the search function, but it can't be purchased. This suggests that it's about to return in full, and if it does, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
So... Does this mean Cyberpunk 2077 has been fixed? Well, we wouldn't say fixed, but it's definitely been improved by its most recent patches. Let's hope that CD Projekt Red keeps them coming.

Remember when everyone and their mothers said this would be for sure Game of the Year 2021? LOOOOOL
I suspected this after the Witcher 3 was added to PlayStation Now which probably didn't cost Sony a penny lol
Not budging until the fully patched all dlc included Ps5 version. It'll be worth it by then.
interested for sure.
with all the fixes so far it should be a game worthwhile now.
@AFCC Well, I mean... Most disappointing game of the year for sure. They definitely delivered a big surprise, I don't think anyone was expecting it to be this bad.
Ironic how I completely forgot about this game although I was really hyped before launch since TW3 is one of my favorite games of all time
Hope they release the PS5 version of TW3 soon, couldn't care less about the PS5 version of Cyberpunk though
This may be excellent news as it could be arriving with the PS5 upgrade and maybe more content.
Putting aside the legitimate criticisms of the initial release and the subsequent rat-tag bandwagon of ranters and puerile comments of wannabe satirists - this is a Damn fine game. I was more than happy to have a crash every 4-5 hours of play; which was never a problem due to the frequent autosaves.
I'm looking forward to seeing what we'll get.
@AFCC it's a good game (played on PS5), which will become a great game when all polished up, like The Witcher 3. Yes it shouldn't have been released in that state either
Waiting on the PS5 version before jumping in. I bought it (regrettably) on day one, and have yet to play a minute of it. lol
I still have my copy of this turkey. Stopped playing it almost immediately (on my Ps5) after I saw how ***** the graphics were in some places and the lack of AI etc. When it’s fixed no doubt it will be dope but I’m not playing it until at least 3 months after the Ps5 version is released with all the DLC
@JechtUltima
From my experience and what I've heard from friends who played it on the PS5, Problems on the new machines are few and far between.
Still refuse to play it until it's fully fixed or close enough to it and when it comes out on PS5. PS4 version I wouldn't go near it with a barge pole.
Yeah.... no chance I’m going for this. Plenty of other good games out there, especially from smaller devs who deserve a chance.
@thechetearly I played some of it on PS4 Pro and it was just awful. NPC faces I would best describe as looking like a severely smudged painting or a painting with water thrown all over it.
Terrible experience overall.
I assume they’ll be a new patch that comes alongside this.
Let's be real. They would never be able to fix it for last gen consoles, so what happened in my opinion there is just enough time passed so that people wouldn't care anymore to complain about poor performance. I am sure the last patch for the game happened months ago, so at this stage I would just call dead game.
@BoldAndBrash not taking the high ground. I bought the game at launch too!
Still I don't understand how the game got the reviews it got. Even with no bugs it's barely a 7.
Taking bets its going to be the plus game for the month it does eventually come out lol also is there still going to be a next gen version of this game?
@nathanSF pretty sure the review, which was far from glowing, was played on PS5. Cool to like the game and all but also okay to admit it wasn't ready for any console at release.
@JechtUltima I play the PS4 version on the PS5 and I have no problems at all
I recently fired the game up on my Xbox Series X only to be disappointed that all of the optimizations made on the Xbox One side actually made the game's presentation worse than when it was launched. I stopped playing after a few minutes and will revisit when the Series X version drops.
I played the entire game on Xbox One X before all these optimizations and things were fine (not perfect, but definitely enjoyable enough). Pop-in wasn't nearly as obvious as it is now.
I really loved the game and want to do a second playthrough as a different character; but the sacrifices made throughout the entire last-gen optimization process really make the game not pleasing to the eye.
Anyways, I am glad to hear that it looks to finally be in a state worthy of getting re-released on the PlayStation Store. Though, I am sure the damage has already been done.
@AFCC I imagine i'll be round the campfire telling my kids "let me tell you the cautionary tale of Cyberpunk 2077..."
"...And let that be a lesson not just to developers but to the people who hang off their every word." lol
Nothing has changed my end. Was always waiting for the PS5 version, a bunch of patches and a DLC release date roadmap before judging if it was worth playing.
BTW Witcher 2 and 3 ran like ASS on console at launch and were a huge downgrade compared to PC. They had previous!
I want native ps5 version with all the bugs removed 😃
how much will it cost though? considering some places sell it for 19.99 now.
I'm more after a ps5 version at this point
Guess who's big in the back time?
Hard pass, CDPR lost their chance.
@Total_Weirdo "I suspected this after the Witcher 3 was added to PlayStation Now which probably didn't cost Sony a penny lol"
That's so deliciously cynical... and probably true. Love it!!!
I was never overly interested in this, but decided against it completely thanks to the issues.
I still commend Sony for removing it from the store, however I feel that's an action they should take more often, with any game suffering such issues.
Case in point: I bought Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 in a sale in November 2019, at which point it had been out and on the store for two-and-a-half years. I had no end of crashes in that, one every few hours... but they never removed it from sale. I guess it wasn't high profile enough, and not enough people bought it for complaints to be widespread enough to draw attention.
i wonder if it will be at a cheaper price than usual. i mean cheaper than the usual 59 or 69 dollars new games cost.
heck maybe it will launch at the next PS store sale and be part of that sale.
My copy is still sat there waiting on the ps5 version ,I thought it would be released by now
@nessisonett I would love to give the game a try but you make a compelling point. Why put money in their pockets when they had the audacity to release the game in that state.
Will the ps5 version be a free upgrade?
Yawn...
Anyway, is anyone else excited for Evil West, Evil Dead and WWZ Aftermath?
@Mega-Gazz the backlash would be huge if after everything they would charge for an upgrade.
the only way i could see this happen is if the ps5 version will be the only version available on the store with the ps4 version being gone forever.
The bugs are irrelevant to the big picture. It's a dead world. They cut too much content. It's a shell of a game.
Shouldn't have been released in the first place.
They need to re-make this
If this game had zero bugs it would still be only a 7 from me. I was caught out by the hype and preordered day one. It's pretty undercooked from almost every feature. It needed a long time in the oven to be anywhere near GOTY. It's wow on a surface level running on PS5. I hope the PS5 native port brings a lot more to the table.
This game has now become my barometer for testing people's critical thinking skills. If someone rates the game, I know we are probably not gonna have much to discuss about art, life and politics. It's a handy shortcut! 🤭
(I am exaggerating and being slightly facetious. Slightly)
@nathanSF not true. It's terrible in the the ps5 as well. This game is absolutely not in a state worthy to return.
"This could be the news that we've all been waiting for"
Who exactly is "we all" in this situation? I'm pretty sure the Cyberpunk hype train has pretty much completely derailed at this point. Sure there's tons of people who already bought the game, and I'm sure there are a few others who're enthusiastic to get it but I very much doubt there are masses of people waiting for their chance to buy it on the Playstation Store
@nathanSF please cdpr let me pay to beta test your unfinished game
Anyone whose interested should probably check physical prices.
WalMart is price dropping the game now, maybe around $30-35.
If the game comes back for $60 digital, that's a terrible deal at this point.
@AFCC Yep.... so much for that....
People should just save their money.
Even if its patched, a bad game is a bad game. They sh8t the bed with this one
They can't be expecting many digital sales when it reappears surely? Anyone who really wants it already has it (and now probably far cheaper than it'll cost on the PS store) and those with a digital ps5 will wait for the native ps5 release.
My game of the year 2020 and I've still not enjoyed a game this year as much as I did Cyberpunk 2077.
@GamerDad66 $30 is too much. At least Best Buy and GameStop have already dropped it to $20 before (with Best Buy including a steelbook, which they claim is worth $10).
@ShogunRok CDPR says it's coming back June 21.
https://www.cdprojekt.com/en/investors/regulatory-announcements/current-report-no-34-2021/
Who, exactly, has been waiting for this news, again?
It's only about time if it's in a fit state to play.
I hope this coincides with a massive patch that will really elevate it to the next level
@jdv95 not sure if cyberpunk will follow the same pattern but the price for The Witcher 3 is pretty consistent between GOG.com and Steam, as well as on the PS Store - I mean they're not all the same price at the same time, but all the same price when there's a sale on (£5 base game or £7 GOTY edition - we can ignore the Nintendo store, the switch version is a special case )
Cyberpunk prices seem to be pretty consistent between GOG and Steam at least, which is to say that the "on sale" price is about £39.99 (RRP £49.99 - not sure about USD)
Much as it would seem to make sense to offer it for a lower price on PS Store sure to all the issues it had at launch, I'm not sure if they'd go for that
Will probably pick it up when the ps5 version drops and on a sale, want to play it but in no massive rush either. Hopefully they do a better job on the next gen launch lol
Make it half price and I may consider it, act 1 on PS5 was flawless for me, got to act 2 😂😂🤣 what a mess!
I'm been at the end of the game for a while(waiting for the PS5 upgrade) so that I can finish the game, and do the best part of the game for me. Finish Judy's story and romance lol.
@NateGoesLive my bet is that it's going to be a full price.
I'll waIt for the ps6 remaster.
@GamerDad66 Best Buy has it for $20. And a free steelbook. I pulled the trigger on it for that price, and won’t open it till the PS5 upgrade comes out.
@danlk1ng Meant to be a degree of sarcasm!
Anyone think Cyberpunk might be included on PS PLUS and encourage buyers to pay £10 for next generation upgrade to PS5.
At this point I'll probably just wait until I got a PS5 before playing it. Then again if I find myself with no PS5 by the time the that version comes out I might see if my good ol PS4 Pro can handle it.
And then get removed again.
@Luigia if it was a plus game,i think sony would have waited until july to release the game instead of doing it june 21st.
though i think they won't have it be full price though. maybe that is part of the deal between sony and CDPR? have it back online but only at a reduced price. ofcourse i'm just wishfull thinking here.
@Alan_cartridge_ Same, except I’d give it a 6.
Might give it a 6.5 for the bug that had a gun magnetically lodged in Jackie’s skull while he died though. Makes for a more memorable moment than the scene deserved to be.
I was able to find it on the store earlier today (with the option to wishlist but not buy - not that I wanted to) but not anymore.
This game will be €10 next year, no reason to get it now.
This is like playing it on a 1050 on PC 🙄
Taking a line from 3rd party on Switch. You only play this on PS4 if you have nothing else (at any price)
Just wait for the native PS5 version.
Played through this on PS4 Pro and there were a few issues mostly some weird pop in but I didn't encounter anywhere near the problems that some did. There's a very good game under all this mess and if they would have just delayed it again instead of releasing it in such a state they would have been so much better off. Sure there would have been people mad that it was delayed again and the investors wanted that holiday 2020 money but they lost the good will they had with gamers which is ultimately more valuable in the long run. Oh and they need to try to control the hype better next time. It was through the roof for a game that was only going to disappoint.
Ya no thanks. Until it’s patched enough to have most of the bugs out I’m not going near it. And only for a good discount on principle.
Can I get my refund yet? Still waiting...
If this relisting isn't accompanying a patch that truly fixes all that is broken and missing in this game, it is a shame Sony caved.
To reiterate, what many others have stated that went into forming their opinions from a more neutral , objective place: With all the bugs and crashes absent (of which I had nearly 40 on the ps5), the game is just not great. It is an empty non immersive world, with simplistic dated AI and systems, (They literally copied the already dated UI / loot over from the Witcher).
Take that all aside, and the game itself is essentially a short story, heavily relying on scripted sequences that have no consequence of which you aren't actually in control of what happens. Damage doesn't register when you shoot during these sequences, it ends once the on rails sequence is done playing its course.
Aside from this short mediocre story you have a map full of icons with a very small variation in activities, copy and pasted all over the map. Loads of repetitive filler on par with if not worse than a Ubisoft game. The gunplay works, and had the game even been a fraction of what they promised the game would have faired better, but to say this game will be better post fixes is delusional.
What CDPR pulled here was nothing short of fraud. This game needed at least another year of development.
@Luigia Highly doubt it. Although they're relisting it, Sony is saying not to play it on PS4. They don't want to bother with probably 40 million complaints from every PS+ subscriber who is still on PS4.
Sony can put this in the same bin as Life of Black Tiger.
So many comments talking about TW3. It’s such a beloved game, I wish I liked it. I bought it and got about 2 hours in then I couldn’t do anymore. The controls/combat is what got to me. My wife loved watching it and wants me to get back to playing it.
I’d like to give Cyberpunk 2077 a try once it’s patched up but its controls/combat is probably even worse.
I played it at launch, but it was sure in a bad state back then. If the patches have made things significantly better, then it's fair enough that it should be relisted in the store.
I remember one gig that bugged out which wouldn't trigger no matter what I did. Probably my buggiest platinum yet.
@djdizzy The controls/combat do get better after the first couple hours. Well, I'm still constantly getting stuck on stuff or Geralt flops to the ground when approaching a step at the wrong angle, and I got the mind control skill so enemies just kill each other so I can essentially skip most of the combat (somehow they one shot each other while it takes me about a 100 hits to kill a rat).
Story's nice, and gwent is fun, though.
I have been playing it on and off since the latest patch, honestly some of the set pieces and art direction are fantastic, but unless CDPR overhaul levelling, perks, some of the side quest repetition, ability to preview clothes before purchasing and the controls, I'd still be cautious.
It's my kind of game for better or worse but I can't say it's a masterpiece held back purely by technical shortcomings.
The core game feels like playing a bloated version of Deus Ex from 2000 at times; a 21 year old pc game, albeit with the greatest lick of paint ever.
@Amusei Same here, hopefully that will release this year still.
So I can buy it next year for 50% off lol.
@Milktastrophe you have a valid point and made me chuckle 🙊
